Abstract
-
This project aligns with the Hong Kong government’s nursing specialisation initiative and will provide professional training to develop advanced practice nurses.
- The clinical aspects of the Master’s in Nursing (MN) programme will be strengthened using advanced simulation training.
- This project will aim to enhance postgraduate nursing students’ competencies in advanced nursing practice using advanced simulation training. The objectives will include the development of courseware, implementation of multiple-patient simulations, enhancement of students’ competences in specialised areas and evaluation of the learning experience.
- Four postgraduate students will be engaged in the project as co-supervisors. They will gain valuable experience and skills in programme planning, courseware development and classroom teaching.
- A total of 16 clinical scenarios spanning various clinical specialties will be developed. Workshops will be provided to train simulation facilitators. All students (~120) enrolled in relevant clinical specialty courses will participate in the clinical simulation training, which will improve their specialty knowledge, critical thinking, decision-making and communication skills.
- We will use a historical cohort and pretest-posttest design to evaluate outcomes.
