Abstract
In alignment with the theme of engaging students as partners in teaching and teacher development, the project aims at:
- cultivating the pedagogical competence of the postgraduate students and forging identity transformation (from passive learning to active ownership of learning);
- broadening the horizon and professional networking of the postgraduate students; and
- establishing a solid foundation to equip students with the knowledge to work collaboratively in response to the real-life case with the complexities of the medical practice and increasing patient-autonomy and Apology Ordinance.
In disseminating the project deliverables, the project shall comprise a number of aspects:
- with the guidance of the full-time teaching staff, the postgraduate students shall design and deliver lectures to students and practitioners from the legal and medical disciplines, which will serve as a pioneer of a future credit-bearing “Medical Law and Ethics” course for both law and medical students;
- student-initiated scenario-based video-making;
- a website/blog comprising (1) schedule and information of lectures to be offered; (2) video clips;
- a symposium will be organized for critical reflection by practitioners and scholars in medical law and humanity; and
- the supervisors shall produce at least one scholarly work/journal article during the project period, reflecting on their research of medical law and ethics in Hong Kong.
