Abstract
Aims:
- To conduct further studies in Sport Education (SE);
- To promote and disseminate this new pedagogy to more professionals in the Physical Education Unit and secondary schools;
- To promote global citizenship and entrepreneurial mindset of students;
- To enhance innovation and design abilities of students;
- To equip PE lecturers with pedagogical understanding and skills required for implementation of SE instructional model.
Major deliverables of the project:
- Physical Literacy Symposium;
- SE website development;
- Longitudinal study on effects of SE.
Physical Literacy Symposium:
- To share the good practice of SE among colleagues/practitioners and discuss any advantages and challenges on the teaching and learning process;
- To distribute and carry out SE courseware and professional development symposiums to all PEU colleagues, UGC funded institutions and selected secondary schools.
SE website development:
- To develop a platform with teaching plan, material and intervention in the SE curriculum for cross-institutional pedagogical exchanges;
- To serve as a guideline for SE curriculum development in the Education Bureau.
Longitudinal study on effects of SE:
- To carry out an 18-month longitudinal study to gain a better understanding on the effects of SE to students;
- To use accelerometers and survey for the measurement of physical activity levels and physical literacy of the students respectively.
