Background

Dr. Otis Lam earned his Ph.D. in Biology from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, specialising in developmental biology and genetics. His passion for teaching and learning emerged during the final year of doctoral studies. With over 15 years of experience in higher education since 2008, Dr Lam has held various roles across three renowned universities in Hong Kong. He has taught a wide range of science-related subjects to undergraduates, postgraduates, and students in associate degrees and secondary schools.

In 2014, Dr. Lam joined the Natural Sciences programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Notably, Dr. Lam developed a course on biomimicry for undergraduates in natural sciences programme, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and problem-solving skills for students from diverse science disciplines. Additionally, Dr. Lam supervised Peer-Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) for natural sciences students, enhancing their academic support through peer learning. In 2024, Dr. Lam embarked on a new chapter in the Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research as a lecturer, where he continues his academic pursuits by serving a wider academic community.

Dr. Lam is driven by the belief that, with the right support and environment, every individual has the capacity to learn and grow. This conviction fuels his dedication to ensuring that the teaching and learning journey is both effective and meaningful for educators and students alike.
